Damen sells 75-metre SeaXplorer

Damen has sold its second SeaXplorer expedition yacht, a 75-metre. The Damen SeaXplorer range, which runs from 55 metres to 100 metres, offers superyacht comforts with true expedition capabilities. The range

was developed with input from superyacht exploration specialists EYOS Expeditions, and the first example, a 65-metre, was sold last year. Damen is the parent company of the Amels superyacht yard.

A sundeck and a hot-tub are options throughout the range

In accordance with the owner’s requirements, Damen’s naval architects and engineers, along with the Amels team, created the 75.15-metre SeaXplorer with a gross tonnage of around 2,500. The owner will take delivery in the second half of 2020. “Together with his guests, our client plans to visit some of the most beautiful and remote areas of the world,” says commercial director Rose Damen. “They will be skiing and snowboarding on pristine slopes like Kamchatka and sportsfishing or submersible diving in places like Papua New Guinea and the Galápagos Islands. They will be in places with no supporting infrastructure, no roads and no heliports within range, so we designed the SeaXplorer 75 to carry out such complex operations with the highest level of safety, redundancy and autonomy.”

The range runs from 55 to 100 metres

The SeaXplorer 75 accommodates 12 guests plus 25 crew and expedition staff. Key feature of the 75-metre Damen SeaXplorer include an observation lounge with panoramic views at the bow, seven guest suites on the main and upper decks, a dive centre and submersible hangar, a below-deck snow room with changing area, and a complete floating heliport for two aircraft.

SeaXplorers can operate in tropical as well as Arctic waters

“Our designs in the SeaXplorer range are a great starting point to quickly create customised yachts for specific owner requirements. The SeaXplorer 75 shares the range’s core attributes: compliance with the IMO Polar Code, the long periods of autonomy at sea, and the crossover of superyacht luxury with professional capability,” says Mark Vermeulen, Damen’s product director.
