The 96.5-metre superyacht Vertigo was launched at the Feadship De Vries yard in Makkum earlier today. The yacht features exterior and interior design by Redman Whiteley Dixon and Chahan Interior Design with Azure Naval Architects acting as owner’s project manager.

Vertigo sets a new standard for styling and is a true gentleman’s yacht,” says Feadship director Tom de Vries. “Her beautiful shapes, gently flowing sheer line and iconic looks are the very definition of timelessness, and she is impeccably balanced in every respect. She is one of the most sophisticated superyachts ever to grace the world’s oceans.”

The exterior design centres on a sweeping curve from the flare of the bow to the beginning of the stern and from the top of the sundeck down to the aft deck. The bow itself serves as a helicopter landing pad, with a certified hangar beneath which houses the Bell 429 WLG.

A focal part of the yacht is the 8.8 metre, 42 000 litre aft deck swimming pool. Made up of glass panels, it also forms the ceiling of the large beach club below. The fold-out side terraces and transom door come together to make this area almost double in size when at anchor. “Creating a rigid shape with five ten-metre hatches in the hull represented an enormous structural challenge,” saysDe Vries. “This holds especially true when you take into account that the pool is also in the aft deck. It requires an incredible level of engineering that very few yards are capable of.”

The inside is characterised by large, open spaces, with floor-to-ceiling windows flooding the entertainment areas with natural light. A floating staircase uses elements including stainless steel, multi-textured stone and blue leather. On the bridge deck, a double-sided fireplace made of limestone and quartz separates the salon from the formal dining space.

The main deck is home to the majority of the guest accommodation, including two VIP cabins, and also a cinema and hair salon. Guest accommodation is made up of six cabins and a seventh on the owner’s deck, but two further cabins on the bridge deck can be converted from staff to guest cabins if need be.

The owner’s deck above features a full beam master suite forward, boasting 180 degree sea views, and a large skylight above the bed further fills the space with natural light. A gym and a pizza oven make up the sundeck on this custom superyacht.
