Livadakia beach on Serifos

Livadakia Beach Serifos: Livadakia is one of the most popular sandy beaches on Serifos, and is situated on the south-western side of the island below Chora, its capital.

When going from Livadi, the port Serifos, it is necessary to turn left into the main street of Livadi or climb over the headland that rises from the ferry port. This same area is shared by other beaches as well, like Livadi, and Avlomonas beach, but usually Livadakia is the most crowded.

Apart from its beauty, Livadakia beach is popular because of its facilities, such as bars and taverns where to have lunch, or a drink. Some of them have chairs extending into the beach area. In addition, at 20 metres back from the beach there some interesting bars that concentrate some nightlife, apart from being crowded in daytime. Regarding other types of facilities, there are many available types of accommodation, like hotels and rooms for rent in the surrounding parts of the beach.

Being a continuation of Livadi, the main tourist spot of the island, obviously contributes to the variety and convenience of Livadakia. In fact, most of the holiday accommodations and shops are centred in and around Livadi port, so they extend over the beach of Livadakia.

In case of getting tired of the crowds and looking for some peace and privacy, one can walk south towards the headland to Karavi beach. However, it is important to take some measures in these cases, like taking enough water and food, since these beaches usually do not offer tourist facilities. However, naturists tend to choose them, because of their solitude.

Livadakia beach also have some water-sport facilities, a good campsite, and a large shore with crystal waters. Its tamarisk trees provide shade from the sun, and as an interesting detail, it is well protected from the winds, even during the ‘Meltemia’, a period in which the summer winds take place on Serifos. This starts on July and extends along the summer.
