MYRTIOTISSA beach in KERKYRA Featured

Myrtiotisa Corfu: Miriotissa was characterized by the English writer Lawrence Darrell as the “loveliest beach in the world” for this sandy paradise is surrounded by dramatic and imposing cliffs covered by trees; this is why it is one of the most popular beaches of the island of Corfu, attracting thousands of visitors every summer.
The beach owns its name to the beautiful Monastery of Myriotissa which is located just above it.
It is an unorganised beach, totally unspoiled and unofficially nudist.

The descent to this beach is down a very bumpy, rocky road. There is a carpark which costs 2 euro for a day’s parking (1 euro scooters) just before the road deteriorates. Using the carpark is probably a good idea because the road is bad. The only problem though is the long walk down to the beach and a strenuous climb back up. As you turn the corner of the rockface you can look down and notice the two small bays, both of which are quite small. Only a few rocks separate them. The beach with the stone steps down to it is predominantly nudist. The second bay less so. The rolling waves here are fantastic and it is a great place for a swim in the sea with little wind and the rock faces rising up behind you.
