ZOODOHOU PIGIS Monastery in PATMOS

The women's convent of Zoodohou Pigi is located in Patmos Town (Chora) and was founded in 1606 by Parthenios Pankostas who was an Abbot of St. John's Monastery. It’s a 5min walk from Saint John's monastery and it is worth visiting eventhough it is not touristic.

Its courtyards are full of flowers and bougainvilleas and it two churches:, Zoodohou Pigi and Saint John the Theologos, with historic icons dating from 16th - 18th century. Its nuns also create relegious garments.

The convent is in the S/W of Hora. From the square, pass the Town Hall down a narrow street till you come to a crossroad. Keep to the right until the next crossroad. There are three wooden signs. One shows the way to the Monastery of the Annunciation and two to the Zoodohou Pigi Monastery. Take this path until you see the Monastery's big wooden gate which is open during visiting hours.
