On the water: Abeking & Rasmussen’s Aviva

Stunning 98-metre features exterior styling by Reymond Langton

Aviva

The 98.4-metre Aviva

– the largest yacht built by Abeking & Rasmussen – has left the German yard on her maiden cruise. She has been spotted this week cruising off the Cornish coast, and she’s the fourth yacht launched under the Aviva name. The striking exterior is the work of  Reymond Langton Design (which created the previous Aviva at Abeking & Rasmussen a decade ago), in collaboration with Toby Silverton. The blue hull and vertical bow are eye-catching features, with the shaped elements of the superstructure in metallic silver creating a strong contrast of light and shade, and taking some styling cues from automotive design.

The yard says the powerful-looking hull is the result of extensive research and testing to ensure superior seakeeping, as well as a 20% reduction in drag and benefits for fuel consumption. Her top speed is 20 knots, while a hybrid drive system allows Aviva to run at up to 11 knots without the use of the main engines.

“She features a fresh and dynamic contemporary exterior design, a highly personalised layout for the interior, and a cutting-edge technical platform. Aviva is intended as a home away from home, and as a result the layout moves away from current trends to maximise the spaces that will be used the most, and create a welcome, inviting atmosphere, with a combination of spacious, open social lounges alongside more intimate and discreet areas for dining, working and relaxation. The interior design features a number of avant-garde architectural elements and details, and uses a rich combination of fabric and leathers in light, warm tones,” says Andrew Langton of Reymond Langton Design.

“We are very proud to present our latest superyacht. This is the result of the highest workmanship and the best communication between the owner and his team during the short period of less than three years,” says Till von Krause, sales director at Abeking & Rasmussen.
