Nidri is one of the most popular and cosmopolitan resorts of Lefkada, which attracts thousands of visitors every summer.

It has become famous because of the near by Scorpios island owned by the Greek tycoon Onassis.

It is located 17 kilometres from the capital of Lefkada. A nice beach with crystalline waters can be found in the resort of Nidri and offers all the needed facilities; from there, one can enjoy a nice view over the islets of Heloni, Scorpio, Sparti, Scorpidi and Madouri. A wide range of hotels, taverns, cafes, bars and nightclubs are available in the area. The landcape is marvelous, full of green, but the resort is very crowded with buildings that are not very attractive.

Nidri has a quite big port and docks where private yachts moor. It is also a base for many charter sailing yachts. It is located right before a big and very deep cove - like a fjord - and its sea is always calm like a lake. The whole Nydri area is therefore an ideal anchorage and many yachts anchor there. The inner part of Nidri bay is called Vlycho (bay) and the peninsula opposite Nydri is called Geni.
