NISSAKI beach in KERKYRA

A pretty stone beach, sitting in a horseshoe bay with a taverna at one end. It was three beautiful pebble beaches necklaced together but one of the beaches, at KROUZERI, is now dominated by the huge Nissaki Beach Hotel and a Club Med complex that they dont look so attractive.
The main Nissaki beach though, away from the hotels, is quiet and has good snorkeling but it can get busy when day tripping boats arrive. There are lots of deserted rocky coves nearby to explore if you follow the coastal path. There are no toilets on the beach though you can use the taverna if you buy a drink.
It is organised with umbrellas and sunbeds. No showers.
Located at the northeast part, accessed from the main road about 25-30 km. from Kerkyra town. However, the turning down to the beach is sudden and severe!
Disabled access: Wheelchairs may get as far as the taverns but will find it very difficult getting on to the beach itself. Choose neighbouring Krouzeri for better access.
Car parking: Yes. A municipal car park (paid) accommodates a limited number of cars. Otherwise, park on the roadside.
Two or three tavernas in the attractive bay.
Children: Yes. The water tends to be placid and relatively safe for younger swimmers.
Mooring for boats: Theoretically, yes. However, there is very limited space and significant rocks in the area.
Next to quayside/harbour: Small quay (slipway) but not obtrusive.
Crescent bay is surrounded by (hot) rocks giving little shade. Further back are pleasant olive groves leading to neighbouring bays.
Limited accommodation to rent, a mini-market or two and a couple of bars.
Distance: Ipsos is about 4 - 5 km. and Corfu Town 20 - 25 km.
Public transport: Bus service to the main road otherwise phone a taxi or bring independent transport.
