The Folklore Museum of Patmos is located in Chora (Town). It is housed in the Mansion of the Simantiri Family, which was built in 1625 by craftsmen from Ismir (Smirni). It is a private house-museum which is still being inhabited by the 8th generation of this family.
Among its exhibits are old graven furniture (most of which date from 1750), paintings, pictures, family heirlooms mainly from Odissos (Odessa) and a foot-operated dental. It also has an important collection of Russian style icons dated from 14th -16th century.
